Bend It Like Bubba

What a great night for Bubba's 1st ever SOCCER practice! Daddy came home from work early so we could all go together as a fam. Bubba's best question of the afternoon "Dad are you coming to cheer for me?" Needless to say - he LOVED it!
There were probably 50 kids that they broke into 5 teams. There will be 3 weeks of 45 min. practices and then 3 weeks of scrimmaging. :) I can't wait to see that.
After they broke them into teams with their coaches, Bubba gave a wave to his fans aka Mommy, Daddy & SBG
A few stretches before the real action started
Check out his moves
Kicking and Passing practice with his new friend Hot Pink Hannah

Sorry for the blur but I thought I was a photo pro with this action shotVery proud of his crash in the mud and his dirty knees. Check out those incredibly muscular soccer legs!

Piggly Wiggly

Our Sweet Girl got a little haircut yesterday. The lady always likes to give her a cute style after she's done. Here's SBG showing off her first pig tails and her tongue.
I had to start quizzing her about her body parts to get her to sit still for the pic.

You get what you ask for :)

Mikele just begged to be tagged so she's #6 on my list. There are many more of you I would have tagged but you need to start your own blogs and not just check other people's. Like Maggie and Tonya to name a just two.

I'm actually playing a game of Blog Tag

My DDD friend Kate tagged me for this blog and I just could not let her down so I'm succumbing to this game of Blog Tag.

What was I doing 10 years ago? Well I was living in West Des Moines, living in my favorite apartment ever on E.P. True Pkwy, just starting to date a very cute guy (who became my husband), working for the Iowa Pharmacy Association, and walking a few evenings a week with Slez :)

5 things on today’s to do list:
Haircuts for both kids
Groceries for the weekend and maybe a little beyond
Sign my son up for 4 Year Old T-Ball
Garbage Cans (usually a boy job in our house but since the Biggest Boy is traveling for work it’s a Mom and Little Boy job this week)
A time consuming phone call I’ve been procrastinating

5 snacks I enjoy:
Dark Chocolate SNICKERS
Fig Newtons
Cheddar Bunnies
Yog & Berries
Pretzels with Tuna Salad

5 things I would do if I became a billionaire:
Have my hubby retire so that he could to a job he is really passionate about instead of one that blessedly pays our bills
Make my parents retirees with all the trimmings
A summer home in the big town closest to my little town and a winter house in AZ
A ton of land and a hunting retreat for my hubby in South Dakota
A brand new Odyssey for KT my AZ sister

5 bad habits:
Chocolate snacking
Not setting my alarm to exercise
Reading Blogs and Blogging
Talking on my cell in the car instead of to my kids
Sweeping and then procrastinating the mopping ‘til next week

5 places I’ve lived:
Cedar Rapids
Washington DC
West Des Moines
Des Moines
Walford

5 jobs I’ve had:
Donutland Worker
Legislative Assistant for a Congressman
Manager of Communications for the Iowa Pharmacy Association
Drug Dealer (aka Pharmaceutical Sales Rep.)
At-Home Mom (the best one yet!)

I'm tagging and offering the challenge to 5 too. Girls I promise it didn't take that long. If I can you can too - Tara,
Katie, Lions, Jill & Amy G. :)

Papa's All Better

Papa had an Anterior Cervical Fusion done today. It was a long day of waiting but we are forever indebted to the new playroom in the ambulatory surgical center of the hospital. It kept the kids entertained and Nurse Nanny's mind off everything.

Here's Nanny and SBG having a little snack. SBG loved the kid table and chairs.

and Bubba loved the LittleTyke Tools

but the best part was when Lisa the recovery nurse offered a round of Popsicles to all. SBG hadn't had the pleasure before. She loved 'em!

FYI - Papa approved this pic, got a few licks from Bubba's sicle, and got released at 6pm central time. He's on his way home as I type. Thanks for all of the prayers. He should be ready for that 35 pounder by his May trip to AZ :)

An Ice Pack Cures Anything

On Sunday I had a little run in with the weed wacker in the garage. It tipped from it's precarious position (put there by the only person in our household who uses it but I won't name any names) and bonked me on the head. Advil and an ice pack made me good as new.

Tonight Bubba stubbed his toe on something in the basement and he came running up stairs and said "Mom, Mom I need the ice pack for my toe." Like every man he likes drama and empathy when he's sick so I gave him the royal treatment. The ice pack and his legs propped up on a pillow as we read books before bed. Needless to say - he loved it!
Part 2 - this morning he thought he needed a little more time with the ice pack just to make sure his toe recovered fully and of course as you may have guessed - this time he pointed to his left big toe :)
