Blackberry Boy

Daddy Fad, as Bubba says his name, got a Blackberry this winter. Our sweet boy studies his Dad like a hawk, wanting to emulate him in every way. In the morning he always wants to know if Daddy thinks his outfit is cool and he has even chosen to stay at home to hang out with his Dad instead of going to his favorite store SuperTarget with me.
Dr. Dobson said in Bringing Up Boys that this would happen and that it's a good thing but I am so amazed as I watch my little boy do such big boys things.
So here's an example I actually caught a picture of today. Bubba outside our house with his neighbor buddy Gage. Notice what he's holding in his right hand - his Blackberry. It's actually a handheld calculator. The neighbor mom and I giggled as we listened to Bubba ask Gage for his number and punch it in to "his Blackberry" to save it :) He would put it in his back pocket and then take it out periodically to consult it for something. Who knows what? What a little man!

Baskets from the Bunny

The Big Bunny delivered our baskets during naptime. He was so smart to know that tomorrow morning we'll be at Grandma & Grandpa's so he brought them early :) Here's SBG checking out her goods. She loved her "Moooo".

Bubba got a Diego bubble whistle and a few chocolate bunnies too

A close up of her new shades :)

Hoppy Easter from Bubba, SBG & a White Rabbit

One of the perks of living in a little town - the local bank does Saturday morning events for holidays. It's probably to have some good PR and acquire some new customers but we just enjoyed the photo op and the donuts :) Couldn't achieve a pic with both kids looking at the camera but there they are!

I thought that SBG's reaction to the bunny would be tears and clinging to me. It was actually the opposite That was was she did when I tried to take her away from the bunny. She would have sat peacefully on her lap all day. She made 3 trips over to say hi, smile and wave :)

Early Easter Extravaganza

Egg gathering, cookie making as well as food and conversation were had by all at Nanny's house on Saturday.
Here are "the boys" ready to take off on their quest for eggs.

Not to be left behind here's SBG tossing one in her bucket too.

A New Literary Genre

At Sam's this morning, the book table sucked me in but I only ended up purchasing one book - a collection of Max Lucado stories for kids. Bubba was excited to read it before his nap this afternoon. The first one was Just In Case You Ever Wonder . If you've read it to your kids you'll relate with me. I was reading it with my whole heart and meaning every word when Bubba asked "Mom - is this a pom?" (It took me a second to realize he meant POEM. I don't even know how he knows that word.) I said "No it's not a poem it's a story." "Well Mom - it doesn't sound like a story. It sounds like a pom and I don't like poms. You said you were going to read me a new story." So I negotiated with him - we read the rest of the POM and then we read the next story in the anthology, Jacob's Gift, which is a Christmas-y must read if you haven't yet. As we chatted after we finished reading I learned that poms are pretty much anything babyish (like nursery rhymes) and anything that isn't just a "real story". All of these definite opinions from my almost 4 boy. So the moral of this story - no poms for big boys.

Aebleskiver Outing

My Mom invited me to a night on the town with the ladies and I coaxed Tara in to coming along for the adventure.

10 of us met in a parking lot to road trip about an hour away to a small church in the middle of farm fields. Every year their youth group hosts an Aebleskiver supper as a fundraiser and as we were soon to find out every one in town comes out to enjoy a night on the town.

We purchased out tickets in the narthex and were told to wait in the sanctuary for our ticket number to be called for a seat in the very full fellowship hall. Here are Sue, Sara, Mary, Barb and Becky making good use of the wait and catching up. Did I mention that was we waited we were serenaded by members of the youth group playing guitars and singing praise music?

My Mom's sister, Aunt Letha, took a break from the kitchen to say hi.

Another lady patiently waiting

And as we waited here's what was going on behind the scenes in the Aebleskiver baking area.

The scene in the "Fellowship Hall". For you trivia buffs - this is also the room where my parents' wedding reception took place.

Well worth the wait :)

Thanks to the ladies for including us "younger-ish" ones in your night out.
And I cannot end this post without a hug shout out to Aunt Klions who saved the day (and this blog) by remembering her camera.

Thanks keeping your camera in it's holster, always at the ready! :)
