The Happiest Little Sick Girl on the Block

After 3 fussy nights of sporadic sleep, I took SBG in this morning. I think the nurses thought I was one of those over reacting parents because as she smiled, waved, and chitter-chatted at them they said "she sure seems happy for being sick". Then the nurse checked her in the room - no fever, clear drainage, then a pat smile as she said the doctor would be in. He did a thorough check and then gave me the news that not only does she have a double ear infection but the pediatric form of bronchitis. What great timing with the surprise visitors at Nanny & Papa's house! Hoping that the antibiotics kick in soon.
Here she is vegging to the Santa Wiggles after her 2 hour nap on me. I was in heaven. That little bug has never snuggled me like that :)
BUBBA UPDATE: His fever broke sometime on Christmas morning. He's still a little tired and his eating isn't quite back to normal but he's a new man in comparison to his Christmas Eve self.

Sick-y Update

Well my prayers for an easy fix, like an antibiotic, were answered with a big NO. I talked to a nurse at the pediatric office. She said tons of parents are calling in about kids with the same symptoms - cough, fever, and diarrhea. Whole families are getting it and it is lasting sometimes 7-10 days. She said if adults or older kids get it they usually get a terrible headache too. So Thad and I took our EmergenCs for the umpteenth time since Bubba got sick. Now we're praying for a hedge around all of us but especially SBG.

This is the second year in a row for Bubba to be sick for Christmas. My boy who is so super healthy the rest of the year!

A healthy merry Christmas to you all!

Our Sweet Sick Boy

Bubba has had a fever since late Friday night. It's been 101.5 or higher in his ear since Saturday morning. He is the best patient a mommy could ever have - so sweet and patient and appreciative. "Mom thanks for taking care of me" he said in his sleep at 1 am when I came in to give him a drink to help his coughing. Not how we pictured Christmas Eve to turn out. We have been praying for the fever to break but it hasn't yet so it will be yet another day of Noggin and finally PBS since it's Monday.

Adventure in the Snow

We had made the effort to get cute and most importantly our kids were in good hands with grandparents so we didn't let a little snow stop us from celebrating Tara's birthday. In the midst of a blizzard we headed out for a night on the town even though this spot wasn't in town but actually 15 miles down a 2 lane highway. Oh well - what's 15 miles when we had Mike as our chauffeur with 4 wheel drive. We had a great night which included a bottle of wine they had saved for 7 years and of course chocolate for dessert :)

These pictures are the third take for each of us :)

I had to include this one of my preppy husband with a close-up of his new jacket. Real men can wear velvet.

Thank Tara and Mike for letting us celebrate the big 3-0 with you.

Sorensen Swimming

The Sorensen clan got together for a Christmas gathering at a great Residence Inn (courtesy of our missing family member - thanks Katie). We did 2 things we do best as Sorensens - eat and our new tradition, swimming. Sorry there are no pics of the great food. Everyone brought a little something and I sampled it all :) I think everyone enjoyed the food except for the 2 Petersens on their healthy lifestyle plan :)

Here's Bubba trying out his floaty suit for the first time

The One Year Checkup

As you can see from this pick it really too a lot out of her. The shots she easily recovered from but I think the finger prick will be giving her nightmares for quite awhile.
What a blessing to have such a strong healthy daughter!

It's My Party

My Mom and baby sister hosted a birthday coffee for me last Saturday. I said all I wanted for my birthday was some girl time minus the kids so this was their gift to me. If you know my Mom very well, you know that she is such a great hostess.

There were many yummy treats and Karoline made abelskivers too.

Another view of the lovely table

Even Mimosas (which Mom so carefully labeled ALCOHOL :)

And Cider too

My First Pictureless Post

Today I locked my kids in the car (accidentally) in my own garage. No problem you say because everyone has atleast one extra car key in their home. Not us. My husband is certain there should be a second key in our junk drawer in the kitchen. No such luck. I called him out of a lunch to ask for his help and he suggested that I call OnStar and get it hooked up and have them unlock it. We bought the car used this summer and it came with OnStar capabilities. Well that too is a great suggestion but OnStar won't do that without a pre-existing account and password because you might be trying to steal a car in your own garage with 2 hysterically crying kids in the backseat. Finally Mr. Emerson, Aunt Klions' middle school buddy's Dad, came and saved the day with his locksmithing tools almost 45 minutes later. Fortunately Bubba was able to hold his "potties" in and SBG didn't have a heart attack.

Happy 34th to me!

Happy Birthday Baby!

Sunday was party day for our big 12 month old :) (I think one year old sounds so grown up so I'm just going to say 12 months. My friend Liesa said that would make her baby 41 months old :) ) Our family braved the chilly weather and a little ice to join us in celebrating SBG's first year. What a little blessing she is to all of us!
