Hard to Believe we were swimming here a few months ago

I keep saying this is the last great weather day but here's another one today. Bubba loved the leaves in the "pool".

Generation #3 Visits Dr. B

After going a few weeks ago to observe Mommy's appointment, Bubba had his first real dentist appointment. Anita was fantastic at making everything so exciting and adventurous. She complemented him on his behavior specificly how trusting he was. She said the some kids twice his age have to be pinned down. Bubba got to try some special dye that showed where he had plaque so he knows where to brush more and he got his teeth cleaned too. Here's Anita showing him how the suction thing works.

The sunglasses were to keep the bright light out of his eyes (and a little distraction too I think)

Here's Dr. B with Bubba. Dr.B said Bubba has good space between his teeth which will probably keep him from having to have the goofy braces his mother enjoyed in middle school.

A Bike Crash

Bubba tested out our neighbor's new bike with training wheels on Sunday night. He obeyed and kept hanging on to the handle bars unfortunately he didn't let go when he started to fall off so he caught himself with his forehead instead of his hands.

The Best Quote :)

All good qualities in a child are the result of environment, while all the bad ones are the result of poor heredity on the side of the other parent. -Elinor Goulding Smith

Harvesting is Hard Work

Never send a man to do a woman's job. That's my mantra after today :) Thad's good hunting buddy, Matt, invited Bubba to come and ride in his John Deere combine. It was kind of a boy thing so it wouldn't have been too cool for the Mommy to tag along for blog pictures.
I put my camera into the hands of my husband and made one simple request "Please Thad, you don't have to take pictures all afternoon, just one picture of him in the combine." "Kers - I can handle it. Don't worry..."
Well the camera was forgotten in the car so here is the picture (taken by me in the driveway when they got home) capturing their day of fun where Bubba got to ride not only a combine but a tractor and a four-wheeler too. Matt's mom gave him a bag of Halloween candy to eat on the way home so he has chocolate on his face as he dreams of the day he can be a farmer driving his own combine.

Crazy Girl

I've been wanting to catch this crazy smile with the camera for quite awhile. This is her "I'm really silly and happy and trying to get your attention face". In this pic it may be because she's eating her favorite thing - cold black beans :)
Look at these "long & leans" - love this happy face and the exercise she gets in the Jumperoo because she doesn't walk or crawl yet

Parking Lots

I told Bubba that I wanted to post some pics of him because I was posting the Crazy SBG ones and here are the pictures he wanted to go on the blog - his parking lots. Since the basement has been out of commission with the carpet drying we've been having many adventures in parts of the house that usually don't get played in. My kitchen chairs have made for great parking lots in the past week.

A Day at the Pumpkin Farm

We took advantage of the gorgeous day and drove about an hour to what will become a new family tradition - a family run pumpkin farm. Our first stop after parking in the muddy field (due to the 5-6 days of rain we had last week) was to feed the goats. Bubba started out trying to be very frugal with his goat food, giving them one little morsel at a time. Soon he realized, with a little help from Dad, that just offering a handful was a better strategy for attracting them.

SBG enjoyed them too but she kept calling them "puh, puh" - her syllable for puppies.

Next stop was Maizie (the fake milk cow) - Bubba loved "milking" her. I'm sure Papa and Grandpa Jack would have been very proud of his diligent technique :)
Climbing a fence to get to the next stop...
the TRACTOR - here's my future FFA member checking the gears

SBG gets a ride too

The reason this will be an annual event - to measure their growth of course.
The favorite of the day was the cow ride. Bubba picked the front car, named Bessie, right next to the tractor.

A view from the Wagon Ride of the muddy parking lot just to give you a feel for it.
The barn and pumpkin buying area
Here are my tired kids on the way home. Don't tell DHS but we switched SBG's seat to forward facing today. She loved stretching her legs and actually see where we were going.

A little help from our friends - the ServiceMaster guys

We awoke yesterday morning to squishy carpet, a non-working sump pump, and just a little stress. Here is our attempt at drying things out on our own. Soon we realized we needed some reinforcements. They did lots of evaluating with all of their equipment and left 9 fans to roar 24/7 until atleast Monday.
